Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Portuguese pronunciation: [ʒuˈʒitsu], is a grappling martial art, combat sport and a self-defense system focusing on grappling. It was derived from Japanese Kodokan judo in the early 20th century, which was itself developed from a number of schools of Japanese jujutsu in the 19th century.
